In a case involving fraud involving the purchase of Slum Redevelopment Authority (SRA) properties in Worli using fake documents, a sessions court on Monday granted protection from arrest to former city mayor Kishori Pednekar and her son Saiprasad Pednekar, among others.
It has not yet been possible to obtain a detailed order. An SRA representative filed the complaint at the Nirmal Nagar police station. The former mayor and three other people, including her son, were arrested for forgery and cheating offences. The disputed apartments were situated in the Gomata Janata SRA neighbourhood.
According to the complaint, Pednekar purchased a flat in the area of Worli that was registered in the name of one Gangaram Boga. The flat, according to the complaint, was given to Boga in 2008, but Pednekar claimed ownership of it during the 2017 civic body elections.
Along with Ms. Pednekar and her son, Prashant Gavas, Shaila Gavas, and Girish Revankar also received relief from the sessions court.
The court's brief ruling on the former mayor stated that, in the event of her arrest, she would be freed by posting a bond in the amount of Rs. 1 lakh. Additionally, it stated that Pednekar was not allowed to leave the nation without its consent and may only leave the country with the court's approval when the police filed a chargesheet in the case. Additionally, it instructed her to assist investigators and show up at the police station once a week on Thursday during a certain time.
