Mumbai: Shiv Sena has stated that they will now contest the local body elections in a manner which is different than before. The Shiv Sena will contest alone and assess the political situation and the party's strength and thereafter decide on alliances in other cities.

At a public rally in Mumbai on Thursday, followed by a meeting with district chiefs at Shiv Sena Bhavan, party chief Uddhav Thackeray highlighted the need for a pragmatic approach. "The decision to contest solo will not be driven by emotions but by the party's ground strength," Thackeray stated.

Elaborating on the party's stance, MP Sanjay Raut explained, "In Mumbai, the party has significant strength, and local leaders are unanimous in their demand to contest the BMC elections independently. However, for other local bodies, we will assess the situation and decide whether to contest alone or form alliances."

This marks a departure from Raut's earlier statement, where he declared that the party would contest independently across the state, including cities like Nagpur. The revised position aligns with Thackeray's emphasis on tailoring strategies to local realities, as discussed in recent public addresses and leadership meetings.
