Apada Mitra (Your Friend), a free 12-day training course offered by BMC, will shortly begin. It is intended for people between the ages of 18 and 40. In the first stage of the initiative, the civic organization will train a thousand people. It will feature search and rescue efforts, first aid, and fire extinguishers.

"Residents of Mumbai suburbs and the city can engage in this 12-day programme at the Parel Disaster Management Office (except Sunday)," said Rashmi Lokhande, the Director of Disaster Management. It shall be carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Central and State Disaster Management Authorities.

Participants must have completed up to Class 7 in school, according to BMC officials. Medical professionals and others with a history in the military would have the age restriction lifted. First preference will be given to those with experience working with NGOs. The BMC would provide applicants with breakfast and lunch in addition to a travel allowance of Rs 150.
