Major Shakeup in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation: 21 Top Officers Transferred

In a major administrative overhaul, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani has issued transfer orders for 21 top officers, including Joint Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners. This is to streamline operations and increase efficiency in the civic body.

Key Highlights of the Transfers:
 
The restructuring comprises transfers at multiple levels, such as postings to higher posts. The reshuffle is anticipated to introduce strategic changes in the spheres of governance, administration, tax collection, sanitation, and public health services.
 
Joint Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Transfers
 
Vishwas Shankarwar, who was formerly Joint Commissioner (Zone 4), has been shifted to the post of Joint Commissioner (Tax Assessment and Collection), with the additional assignment of Liaison Officer for the Backward Classes Cell.
 
Dr. Bhagyashree Kapse, Deputy Commissioner (Zone 7), is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4).
 
Sanjay Kurhade, Deputy Commissioner (Public Health) and Mumbai District AIDS Control Organization, Project Director, has been transferred as Deputy Commissioner (Zone 7).
 
Promotions to the Cadre or Deputy Commissioner
 
Sharad Ukhde, who was earlier Assistant Commissioner (D Division), has been upgraded to Deputy Commissioner (Public Health) with additional responsibility of Information Technology Department and Mumbai District AIDS Control Organization.
 
Ajit Ambi, who was earlier Assistant Commissioner (G North Division), has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner (Parks).
 
Pandurang Gosavi, Chief Accountant (Water Supply and Sanitation), has been upgraded to Deputy Commissioner (Central Procurement Account).
 
Vishwas Mote, Assistant Commissioner (M West Division), is now appointed as Deputy Commissioner (Zone 3).
 
Assistant Commissioner Cadre Transfers
 
A few Assistant Commissioners have been transferred to other zones, so that a new face can be seen in administrative roles:
 
Vinayak Vispute is shifted from H West Division to G North Division, with the additional responsibility of Assistant Commissioner for Encroachment Removal in Eastern and Western Suburbs.
 
Manish Valanju changes from K East Division to D Division, with an extra duty in the Market Division.
 
Alka Sasane changes from M East Division to S Division.
 
Nitin Shukla is posted from F North Division to B Division.
 
New Assistant Commissioners Recruited through MPSC
 
Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has enabled the recruitment of four new Assistant Commissioners:
 
Dinesh Pallewad - H West Division
 
Yogita Kolhe - T Division
 
Ujjwal Ingole - M East Division
 
Arun Kshirsagar - F North Division
 
Transfers and Assignments in Addition
 
Ajay Patne, erstwhile handling T Division (Charge), has been shifted to P South Division (Charge).
 
Shankar Bhosale, erstwhile Assistant Commissioner, B Division (Charge), now is full-time Assistant Commissioner (M West Division).
 
Navnath Ghadge, Deputy Chief Engineer (In-charge), Urban Sanitation Programme, Solid Waste Management Department, has also been entrusted with an additional charge as Assistant Commissioner (K East Division).
 
Sanjay Ingale, Assistant Chief Engineer (Bridges), now a full-time appointee as Assistant Commissioner (C Division).
 
Ramifications of the Reshuffle
 
The comprehensive reassignments portend a well-targeted agenda by the BMC towards enhancing civic administration, public health programs, infrastructure upkeep, and tax collecting efficiency.
